Wearable Breast Pumps

A wearable Breast Pump is a pump you can basically just slip into your bra and go around hands-free while pumping. This is very enticing because you are not having to sit down, fumble around with flanges and tubing or put on a pumping bra. It eliminates a bunch of steps. These seem like a no-brainer if you’re a working mom. These types of pumps may give you a lot of freedom, but they also may not perform as well as stronger pumps. Every woman is different for what she needs.

There are many great brands of pumps available, and some are much better than others. Some of the brands who make a good wearable pump are Willow, Freemie and Elvie.

Willow

The Willow Wearable Breast Pump is a hands free electric pump. It is quite pricey at $500 but many women like the convenience of a pump like this, especially if they have other children.

This pump can be hard to position and can take some getting used to. It might be a good option as a second pump. This is a great pump to use while working–can pump easily while on your computer. It is also a good pump for multiple kids. You can pump while at the park, or entertaining a toddler.

Freemie

Freemie is a brand that has the option to use their collection cups with a pump you already have or they sell a small double electric pump you can use as well. The collection cups are handy to have because they are more discreet than traditional bottles and flanges. Their pump come with the collection cups or you can buy them separately to go with your pump.

If you don’t want to spend a bunch of money on another pump if you already have a good pump but still want that discreet hands-free option, the Freemie cups are a great choice. They can leak a little if you lean forward, so while pumping you have to make sure not lean forward. This would happen with any normal bottle and flange as well.

Elvie

Elvie is similar to the Willow in that you use the pump in your bra and it is tube and wire free. It is the same price as well, around $500.

It does have 5 parts to clean, so a little bit more cumbersome than the Willow. It does have variable suction so you can find the right suction strength for you. It may take a little longer to get the same amount of milk as a regular double electric pump but you have the freedom to do things so it may not matter if a takes a few minutes longer. The suction on this pump is typically pretty good though.
